Tagged: Selling options
No matter how long you have owned your park and what your current ownership structure is (sole proprietor, non-profit ownership, corporate owner, or something else?), the rules have probably changed since you purchased or established your park.
To avoid issues that may cause you not to be able to sell your park, always check with an attorney knowledgeable in this area or directly with MHPOP.
That said, do you have a target buyer? Selling to the residents offers many benefits. Maybe the residents aren’t interested in doing the work necessary to do complete the purchase but a local non-profit or housing agency may be willing to do the purchase.
We encourage you, where possible, to at least consider a community-owned option (co-op, housing authority, non-profit, etc.) versus to a large corporation. These community options help keep the residents’ needs foremost in their mind. Remember, these are families who often have lived in your park for years. Selling to community-owned entities helps them to stay in your park.
